This is not an easy thing. Basically, I am an illusionist, tricking your mind into believing that you are seeing an entire mountain range, a deep valley and a meandering stream and a waterfall or high cliffs and vast oceans when you look at a flat thing constructed of glued-down bark.
Every time I look at a piece I am asking myself, "What is not right?" I have spent the years training my eyes to spot the falseness in my illusions, the things that snag your mind's attention and tell you it is not real.
I have torn down whole constructions and rebuilt them over and over until the illusion worked. Some I have split in half and reworked each half into believable worlds. Others I have completely abandoned. It is all part of what I do.
The best part of this whole trip is that I have seen many people standing mesmerized in front of my finished work. I know they are wandering through my worlds in their own minds, at peace for a little while.
